Australian Wildlife

I’ve found my new favorite animal! A wallaby!

I went to the Philip Island Wildlife Park where there were koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, and man-eating birds, but the wallabies were my favorite! You got to feed them and stroke them, and they got to roam around in a huge plot of land. We also got to see some kangaroos before that, because when we were at our cabin one morning, a few kangaroos came up to us!

You might be wondering what the difference between a wallaby and a kangaroo is? Well a wallaby looks like a mini kangaroo, but that’s their full grown size.

When I first went in, I was very worried about the animals hurting me because my dad told me that kangaroos can punch you! But after I saw my dad feeding a baby wallaby, I felt a little better. By the end, me and William didn’t want to leave.

I have a funny story for you! Basically, my dad was feeding a BIG kangaroo, and we heard this coughing noise, and he was in mid air by the time I looked over! The kangaroo had sneezed while he was feeding it!

Later that day- One really special thing that we did was go to the penguin parade. Over a thousand penguins came out of the ocean, and we got to see them walk up onto the shore, it was one of the craziest things I have seen!

And lastly I have to say that the koalas were so cute!

All the animals were amazing and I hope to come back here someday.

love you all, miss you all, Madeleine

P.S. We also had some amazing non-animal related adventures. We went on a 4 day road trip from Sydney to Philip Island/Melbourne. We’ve driven 3-5 hours a day, and it’s been long but fun! These are some highlights:

  • At the Royal National Park we went on a walk where we saw a waterfall, and a beach!
  • We stayed in a holiday park with a pool with a waterslide and a playground with 2 jumping pillows. If you don’t know what they are, I’ll put a picture below.
  • We swam in the Bermagui Blue Pool – a very cold ocean pool
  • We saw a sighn that said “Hotsprings” so we went down the road, we felt like it was endless, until we found it. We walked to the front desk and decided to go to it, we were really happy with it! My favorite part was the cold plunge pool!

We are a family of 4, my parents met traveling and later had kids and decided that they would take us traveling around the world too! And that’s how it all started!
